Welcome to My Blog ! Introduction to Indian Fish Meal Industry

Hello  everyone ,

Welcome to my new Blog, I am coming back to my page after 3 long years . ( Last posted in 2016 in another page).

In my new blog  i will posting mostly about Indian Fish Meal & Fish Oil Industry and Related news about Indian Aquaculture .  This Blog is to help understand and get updates on latest trends in Indian Fish Meal & Fish Oil Industry .

India is second largest in Seafood Catch and Second Largets in Aquaculture production in the world.

In India there are 56 factories as on 28/09/2019 . Out of which 20 Factories are located in Mangalore & Udupi ( Karnataka) . Rest of them are scattered in Tamilnadu, Maharashtra, Kerala and Gujrath .

India produces roughly 3,00,000 MT fish meal and 25000MT fish oil annually and has a consumption around same quantity . India does export decent quantity to mainly far east , However due to rapid growth in Indian Aquacture Industry has resulted in high demand in domestic market .

For the last 5 years Indian production has seen a roller coaster due to poor landing and almost vanishing of Indian Sardines from East and West coast of India . Also this has resulted in high demand for availabe mixed variety of thrash fish for the production of Fish Meal & Fish Oil.

Since there are various types of Fish sps available , India produces 50% to 67% crude protein fish meal.  But majorly the grades are between 60% to 63% Crude Protein Fish Meal .

I will keep posting more about this industry .
